East Bay Classes in Salsa & Rueda de Casino

A note from Russ Hamer to all my friends and dancer buddies! I will be out of the country for a few months, languishing in Brazil! I want to thank all of you from the bottom of my heart. You are my friends, and my community, and I have loved every minute of dancing with you and teaching you what I have to offer. You have have even countenanced my subjecting you to jokes in class, each of which was (I felt) hysterically funny. I will return in a few months to teach once again, and I will miss all of you. While I am gone, the regular pair of Sunday classes will be replaced by one wonderful class....

SalsaRueda Classes in the East Bay will take place in Alameda!
Come join Michel Rodriguez and Dawn Cecilia every Sunday from 12 noon until 2.

Where: RussStudio, Emeryville, CA
Cost:    $10 per class (but see ** below!)
When:  Every Sunday

Intermediate/Advanced Salsa & Casino Rueda (11:00am - 12:30 pm) -- This class will present many fun and complex Rueda patterns and move through Intermediate levels, and on into the Advanced moves. Most of the curriculum is Miami-Style, but there are quite a number of Cuban moves taught as well. The Rueda moves learned here will broaden your Salsa skills and make you a more versatile dancer! You will also be introduced to great Cuban and non-Cuban music each week! Prerequisites: Intermediate-level Salsa skills, plus Beginning/Intermediate Casino Rueda moves.

Beginning Salsa & Casino Rueda (12:30pm - 2:00 pm) -- This class will introduce new students to basic Salsa footwork and timing and body movement with an emphasis on musicality and fun!. You will learn the techniques for partner Salsa dancing and the essential 'vocabulary' of Salsa moves, as well as how to transition between moves fluidly. Acquiring these skills are greatly facilitated by learning them in the context of Rueda, where the moves have standard names to assist in recall.

** Int/Adv dancers are encouraged to stay for the Beginning class to assist the new dancers and to help complete the Rueda. No charge of course. If you want to stay and participate as a student in the Beg class to learn "the other side" (learn to lead if you are a follower, or vice versa), the class will cost only $5.

Private lessons also available by appointment -- If you would like to progress faster than possible in group classes, private classes are a good option. You will learn more patterns, with more attention to detail and to your individual needs. See Privates for details.
